All I Can Say Is Wow!

Yesterday afternoon I was feeling much better so I ventured downstairs to check my email, etc. I noticed a couple of calls on the business phone. The caller ID said KTVI Fox News on it. I checked my cell phone (business calls are forwarded to it if I don't pick up) and they had left a message.

A Fox producer called and said that she had read my review of the book Babywise by Gary Ezzo on Amazon.com and wondered if I would be interested in talking to her about my experience with the book.

Needless to say I called her right back and we talked on the phone. She said a lot of her friends have been reading the book and she started doing research on it and found that there is a lot of controversy about it. She's going to do a segment about the book on Fox.

I told her my (negative)experience and opinion of the book and she asked if Luke and I would come down to the network and talk to her on camera. Ummm, YEAH!

She's going to call Wed. and set up an appt for us for Thur or Fri of this week!

Of course, I am really nervous about the whole thing. I hope I can sound half-way coherent and reasonable and not make myself out to be a major dord. I also hope Luke is in a good mood...

Ben said he would go with us so that'll help.

Of course, I had to call Genevieve right away and tell her because she's the one who gently suggested I research Ezzo in the first place.

Wow! Glad you got to talk with Holly from Fox and you feel positive about the experience.

We used BW with our first two, and really regret it.

Are you familiar with the FreeFromEzzo Yahoo Group and Awareparent.net?

Interesting all the negatives the Ezzos get in the blogosphere. I avoided reading Baby Wise for years, because I'd heard of constant controversy. Then my wife and I took the "Glorious Path" video series the Ezzos did on parenting, and I was so pleasantly surprised. On video, at least, they were not at all extreme, and were very careful to balance their suggestions. Maybe that's from being beaten up so much. Anyway, hope you won't be too hard on them over at Fox. Have a good interview!

Jim,

Thanks for reading my blog and taking time to comment.

I was on the GFI website not long ago and was surprised at how calm the tone was. Babywise is very different, in my opinion. It has a much harsher way about it.

I'm so glad to read that Babywise will be discussed on TV. It's sad that so many families have fallen prey to the Ezzo's "our way is the only way" line of thinking and have ignored their babies' attempts to communicate. Thank you for doing this.
